Sign in to download the launcher. The same account works for the website and the game, so making one is the first step of playing anyway.

The launcher installs the game and checks every file. It is a large one-time download, verified file by file, so every player runs exactly the same client.

What it does

Verifying what you downloaded

The launcher checks its own updates against a signature, but this first download is the one thing it cannot verify for you. If you want to confirm the file is the one we published, compare its SHA-256 — in PowerShell:

Windows will warn you

The launcher is not code-signed — a certificate costs a few hundred a year and this project charges nothing — so SmartScreen will show "Windows protected your PC" the first time. More info → Run anyway. We would rather say that plainly than have you wonder.

It also asks for administrator rights when you press Play. That is what lets it connect the game to our realm, and it is not used for anything else.

Then what

Create an account — it works for both the website and the game.
Run the launcher: let it install the game.
Press Play and log in with the account you just made.
